Emma was the Music Scholar at Guildford High School and leader of Surrey County Youth Orchestra. She won a place at Kings' College Cambridge but in 1999 went to study with Yossi Zivoni at the Royal College of Music from where she graduarted in 2003.
At the RCM, Emma was Co-Leader and Principal Second Violin of the Sinfonietta and Symphony Orchestra under conductors including Bernard Haitink, Vassily Sinaisky, Lorin Maazel and Andrew Litton. She has been working as a principal player for the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra for 2 years and frequently plays with the Guildford Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2003 she was appointed leader of the National Musicians' Symphony Orchestra (now YMSO). As their leader she has performed at St John's Smith Square and Bath Abbey.
In March 2004 Emma performed to critical acclaim in an evening of Piano Trios opening the Guildford Spring Music Festival. She is also plays in the Veneto String Quartet whose performances have included the Barbican Centre and St James' Palace.
